Missing Capital Region Man Found Dead

The search for a missing man from the region has ended in tragedy.

Richard Ryther, age 71, was found dead at the Moh-He-Con-Nuck Nature Preserve in Glenmont on Sunday, Nov. 26.

Albany County resident Richard Ryther, age 71, of Glenmont, was reported missing Friday, Nov. 24.

On Sunday, Nov. 26, Bethlehem Police announced that Ryther was found dead in a wooded area at the Moh-He-Con-Nuck Nature Preserve.

The preserve is located just yards from Ryther’s home on River Road.

His death does not appear suspicious, police said. The Albany County Coroner’s Office will determine an official cause of death.

Overnight temperatures Friday and Saturday were in the low to mid 20’s.

Multiple agencies assisted in the search, including the New York State Forest Rangers, New York State Police, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, and the Elsmere Fire Department.
